From humble beginnings to a Sunshine Coast success story…
20 years ago Carly O’Donoghue established Stepping Out Podiatry’s first practice location within the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The Landsborough clinic opened in 2003, only operating 2 days per week at this young stage, and the makings of a community focused, professional health care service, slowly started to take hold. Carly had a vision to build a business that puts patient service first, to bring a quality health service to the Hinterland community, and to provide patients with a feeling of belonging as soon as they walk in the door.
The staff at Stepping Out Podiatry also share this vision, and pride themselves on excellence in service. Modern technological influences, such as 3D scanning, and shockwave therapy, have guided our patient diagnosis and treatments, which has become the basis of our thriving business and our patient satisfaction.
Today, Stepping Out Podiatry has made its mark across the Sunshine Coast with three clinic locations: Landsborough, Beerwah and Kawana.
Welcome to the happiest Podiatry clinic on the Sunshine Coast…our focus is your feet and we love what we do!
Meet The Team
Carly O’Donoghue
Director/Podiatrist
Hi I’m Carly – owner of this fantastic business. I have seen Podiatry as a profession grow over the last 21 years, as more people become aware of what Podiatrists can do for their overall health and long term mobility. As we adopt new technologies and evidence based treatment techniques, I am confident that the benefits for our patients will be evident in quicker healing time with injuries and more effective pain relief applications.
I manage the business together with my amazing administration team, although the highlight of my week is Wednesday mornings, where my appointment book is open and I have the pleasure of treating new and long term patients alike. Ingrown nail removal procedures are my passion, and I enjoy being able to treat my patients ingrown nail problems quickly, and with minimal discomfort.
My passion outside work is reading, and also walking/hiking, with my favourite hikes so far have being 48km Kokoda Challenge and The 3 Capes in Tasmania.
Mia Orford
Podiatrist
Hi I’m Mia, and you can catch me at either the Landsborough or Beerwah clinics locations.
After graduating from Queensland University of Technology, I worked in a few clinics across Brisbane and Caboolture, to land myself at Stepping Out Podiatry, where I fell in love with the Sunshine Coast, the Hinterland community, and the team I work with everyday.
My passion in Podiatry is providing a holistic approach to treatment, no matter what the foot condition. I pride myself on taking the time to look at how your foot is moving in relation to the rest of your body, to find the exact cause of your pain. Heel pain, achilles tendinopathies, calf strain and knee discomfort are all areas of interest, along with problematic toe nails.
I enjoy providing the most up to date biomechanical treatments to patients, and I am constantly researching and going on external courses to update my skill set and knowledge, to provide the best patient outcomes possible. You will find I will spend the time explaining your condition to you, as I believe health education is very important to improve patient outcomes.
On the weekends I love walking/hiking, renovating my home, and relaxing with a good movie!
Kellie Palmer
Podiatrist
Hi I’m Kellie. I graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 2012. Since then I have continued to educate myself through external courses to enhance my skill set, and gain the most up to date knowledge on treatment practices for my patients.
One area of special interest that I continue to study is in the field of Paediatrics. By doing this, I am able to assess, diagnose and manage a variety of child specific issues including abnormal gait, tripping, pain and ingrown toe nails. I am able to calmly reassure the child/adolescent, and their parents alike, and you will find me friendly and approachable in my manner. I understand that parents are wanting answers, and I enjoy educating parents and their children on what is happening to their feet and why it is happening.
I have experience with all aspects of podiatry, in all age groups. I take pride in helping patients rehabilitate their injuries, significantly reduce their pain, and creating treatments plans which suit the individual and their lifestyle. By doing this, the outcomes for my patients are much better and the results are achieved more quickly.
Outside of work, my family and I thrive for warm sunny beach days, surfing, spending plenty of time in the water, going on bush walks and catching up with friends and family. I have lived on the Sunshine Coast my whole life and can’t think of anywhere I would rather be.
Jason Roberts
Podiatrist
Hi, I’m Jason, and I moved to Australia from New Zealand after graduating from Podiatry in 2011. I have worked at Stepping Out Podiatry since 2012, and couldn’t imagine a better work place, as I meet so many interesting people who love a chat just like me!
I work mainly out of the Landsborough clinic, however you will find my at the Kawana location on a Tuesday.
After 12 years of Podiatry, I still love treating both problematic toe nails, as well as complex musculoskeletal conditions. Fractures, abnormal gait patterns, heel pain and achilles tendinopathies are areas that I have a special interest in treating. I love to get my patients back on their feet, doing the things they love the most, as quickly as possible.
I enjoy catching up with friends on the weekends, going to the zoo with my family, and overall just love living on the Sunshine Coast!
