Our humble beginnings…
Carly O’Donoghue established Stepping Out Podiatry’s first practice location in 2003 working out of the Landsborough Medical Centre, operating only 2 half days per week. Over the course of two years the practice had grown to 2 full days and an additional location for a half day per week was established in Beerwah. During the first 4 years Carly worked as a contractor for a few other Podiatry businesses in Brisbane to make ends meet while her vision of Stepping Out Podiatry was coming to life.
Over the next few years both the Landsborough and Beerwah clinics grew and Carly expanding the services to Maleny, the third practice location. Now operating across the Hinterland, Carly was able to cease her contracting work and offer a five day Podiatry service to the local community.
In 2011 Stepping Out Podiatry nestled into their first stand alone clinic at Landsborough that allowed space to accommodate the growing patient numbers and provide the latest facilities and diagnostic services in the now ever changing technological world.
It was not until 2018 that the fourth location opened in Meridan Plains, operating out of the Parklands Medical Centre. Due to growing demand there are hopes to expand in this location in the near future.
With four locations across the Sunshine Coast and with Stepping Out Podiatry constantly growing due to our positive patient experience, we are currently one of the largest practices on the Sunshine Coast. We pride ourselves on providing excellence in service and our patient treatments being 1st class.

Hi I’m Carly – owner of this fantastic business and proud to have developed a business that focuses on service and helping people with their foot pain. I always new I wanted to own my own business and lead a team of sensational Podiatrists through their career journey and finding their passion in Podiatry. I have seen Podiatry change over the last 20 years and I am confident that this change has been beneficial for Podiatrists and for patients, as we adopt new technologies and evidence based treatment techniques in this ever changing and high demanding world.
When I graduated from QUT in 2001 I moved up the Sunshine Coast at lived at Mooloolaba. Having lived in Brisbane my whole life I found it quite exciting to be walking distance from the beach and being able to have a drink at the Surf Clubs on the weekend! How good is life on the Sunshine Coast!
Now days though I reside in Brisbane with my husband and 9 year old daughter. Don’t worry! You can still catch me at the Landsborough clinic however I only currently see patients on a Wednesday morning.
I love animals and have two dogs and a cat, who lie around my office at home keeping me company when I do paperwork. Makes the paperwork side of things a little easier however quite distracting when the puppy is chewing everything in sight!
My passion in Podiatry is ingrown nails and being able to remove them gently. I also love painlessly removing corns from people’s feet and designing orthotics to offload this pressure so the corns don’t return.
